Bristol Rovers Community Trust and Bristol Rovers FC welcomed St Peter’s Hospice to The Memorial Stadium for the club’s latest home fixture, bringing the Gas community together to support the hospice’s city-wide Wear It Blue campaign.

As part of the club’s matchday community activations, supporters were encouraged to wear blue, show their support and help raise vital funds and awareness for the Bristol-based hospice, which provides essential care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Gasheads, nearly £2,000 was raised on the day alone, making the activation a fantastic success and demonstrating the positive impact football can have in bringing communities together.

Bringing Wear It Blue to The Memorial Stadium

Launched by St Peter’s Hospice to coincide with Hospice Care Week, which ran from 5–11 October 2026, Wear It Blue is a city-wide fundraising and awareness campaign encouraging people across Bristol and beyond to show their support by wearing blue and raising money for hospice care.

Through the collaboration between Bristol Rovers FC, Bristol Rovers Community Trust and St Peter’s Hospice, the campaign was brought to life at The Memorial Stadium, giving supporters the opportunity to learn more about the hospice’s work and contribute to a cause that makes a real difference to people across the local community.

The matchday activations included pre-match fundraising and engagement with supporters, with St Peter’s Hospice representatives on hand to share information about the campaign and encourage donations.

First-team player Joe Quigley also showed his support for Wear It Blue before kick-off, helping to raise awareness of the campaign and encourage Gasheads to get involved.

At half-time, Anne, representing St Peter’s Hospice, addressed supporters inside the stadium to highlight the importance of the campaign and the vital work carried out by the hospice. The speech was supported and facilitated by Bristol Rovers FC, providing an opportunity to raise awareness in front of the Gas faithful.

The response from supporters was fantastic, with bucket collectors receiving a warm welcome and the hospice’s stall attracting interest from fans and families throughout the day.

Following the matchday activation, Hayley Ali, Fundraising Events Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, expressed her gratitude to Bristol Rovers FC, Bristol Rovers Community Trust and the club’s supporters for helping make the day such a success.

St. peter's hospice, hayley ali fundraising events manager:

"I just wanted to say on behalf of our team a huge THANK YOU for hosting us on Saturday. It was brilliant!! Your fans were incredibly generous to us, and we had a great reception and lots of kind, warm words. Our bucket collectors on the gate had a great time and said everyone was so lovely and generous to them, and our stall had lots of people and kids come over. Our pre-advertising really worked as lots of people said they had read about Wear it Blue beforehand, and getting your player to do that video was amazing too - thank you. It's been absolutely fantastic working with you both and I can't explain how grateful we are for all you've done for us!"

The success of the activation also highlighted the value of using football matchdays to connect local organisations with new audiences, raise awareness of important causes and create meaningful opportunities for supporters to make a difference.
